A message from our President
Dr G S Khuraijam
B.Sc (Hons.) MD., F.R.C.P.(London,Edinburgh,Glasgow)
I’m honoured to be the President of the Manx Stroke Foundation as
it has been offering valuable assistance to stroke survivors since
1997. It also offers the opportunity for people who have had
strokes to meet up with others in a similar position for
social events. I have undertaken the role with great enthusiasm and
look forward to continuing as the President for many years to come.
Although I am now retired from my full time position as
Consultant
Physician at Nobles Hospital, I am keenly interested in the development
of stroke services on the Island. I give my full support to my
successor, Dr John Thomas, with his
plans for improvement of stroke services and to Mr Shutt
the vascular surgeon at Nobles Hospital. I also fully support and
endorse the UK Government’s FAST campaign which has raised public
awareness in recognising the first signs of a stroke.
My hope has always been that a dedicated stroke unit
with specialised trained staff be available for stroke patients on the
Island.
I am extremely pleased that this has now become a reality thanks to the
efforts of dedicated individuals and the cooperation of the Department
of Health and Social Security.
